Legislative
and regulatory affairs

ACI
EUROPE represents airport views to the institutions
of the European Union (EU), the European Civil Aviation
Conference (ECAC), the European Organisation for the
Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) and to national
administrations. All initiatives emanating from these
bodies and impacting on the air transport sector are
monitored and relevant information is disseminated to
members.
Our Director of Policy and
his team, working closely with managers and experts
from member airports, keep in regular contact with legislators,
policy makers and regulators. Our experienced Policy
Unit has built up long-term relationships of trust with
these key contacts.
Policy making and information
exchange

To benefit from more in-depth analysis and to participate
in the formulation of ACI EUROPE policy, all airport
members (Regular Members) are encouraged to appoint
representatives to our six specialist Committees reflecting
the principal disciplines in the airport industry from
security through to economics. They represent a unique
forum in which dedicated airport managers expand their
knowledge and professional know-how.
ACI EUROPE specialist Committees and Task Forces
of Members develop common positions for European airports
on important legislative and regulatory issues. These
policies, subject to approval by the ACI EUROPE Board
of elected airport leaders, are then represented to
legislative and regulatory bodies at both the European
and national levels. This process also provides the
European input to ACI policy at the world level which
is represented to the International Civil Aviation Organisation
(ICAO) of the United Nations and other world bodies.
The ACI EUROPE mission - to promote the exchange of
professional know-how and information between members
- is fulfilled not only by the dedication of the 340
airport managers working in the Committees and Task Forces,
but also by a successful programme of conferences
and exhibitions organised throughout the Region.
An extensive information service is provided to members
through a monthly on-line news bulletin, E-communiqué
and its sister publication the Communiqué
Airport Business magazine. Additionally, a number
of specialised publications on a variety of airport-related
issues are produced every year.
Communications

Communicating with the news media is a high priority
for ACI EUROPE. Our Communications
Manager works closely with the Director of Policy
and all executives to keep in regular contact with key
members of the Brussels press corps. We communicate
our policies through press
releases and also arrange press briefings, interviews
and conferences.
Specialised magazines for
members

E-communiqué
is the exclusive, on-line publication for European airports.
Serving as an official information bulletin for all
ACI EUROPE members, it is published 5 times each year.
E-communiqué is essential reading with news and
reference material on the work of ACI EUROPE and on
European legislative and regulatory affairs impacting
member airports. Each edition is also packed with news
about members and the civil aviation industry.
Our Communiqué
Airport Business magazine, published several
times a year, is our full-colour publication allowing
extended illustrated coverage of technical, commercial
and policy driven issues. It also carries uniquely targeted
advertising at reasonable prices, an indespensible tool
for our associate members to spread their messages.
Specialised editions are also published, for example
to celebrate the opening of new airport facilities or
to publicise the achievements of member airports in
specific countries.
Conferences and exhibitions

ACI EUROPE offers a highly successful programme of conferences
and exhibitions covering every aspect of airport
management from economic to operational matters. Each
event is a unique opportunity for airport operators
to meet with legislators, regulators and the press to
extend their understanding of the true role of airports.
Our conferences also provide unparalleled opportunities
for Associate and Regular Members to make vital business
contacts in an informal atmosphere and for all members
of our industry to exchange know-how and information.
Simultaneous translation at conferences is usually provided
in English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish.
The annual schedule includes the World's premier conference
on Airport Trading and our unique Regional Airports
Conference, in addition to the flagship Annual Regional
Assembly and Conference. Many of our conferences are
accompanied by exhibitions allowing Members to promote
their services and products.
