Gérard Borel became ACI EUROPE´s General Counsel in 2000 after a distinguished career of over 25 years in air transport. Gérard´s extensive government and industry experience offers a unique insight and perspective on EU policies critical to the European airport industry. Gérard joined ACI EUROPE from the European Commission (1994-2000) where he was in charge of economic regulation relating to airports, in particular airport charges and ground handling. He has also worked for Aéroports de Paris (1990-1994) and the International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO (1986). Gérard studied law at several universities and holds Doctorates in both international public and international business law.
Gérard is the current President of the European Social Dialogue for Aviation, Vice-Chair of the SESAR Deployment Alliance and a member of the Board of the European Aviation Club.
A French national, Gérard speaks fluent English. He enjoys cooking, music, sailing and skiing.
