David Trembaczowski-Ryder joined ACI EUROPE in February 2010 as Senior Policy Manager responsible for aviation security issues. In August 2013, he was promoted to Head of Aviation Security. David is a retired UK Royal Air Force wing commander, and ex-fast jet navigator/weapon system operator, with a whole career in the aviation and security field. In addition, he has significant experience in EU policy development and extensive lobbying experience.

David last appointment was with the UK Permanent Representation (UKREP) to the European Union (2006-2008) as a senior military adviser on European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP). Prior to joining UKREP David was seconded to the EU Council General Secretariat (2003–2006) dealing with ESDP organisational structures and policy, as well as dealing with EU Third States policy issues (Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Norway, Iceland, Croatia, FYROM and others). Before coming to Brussels, David was the CEO/Station Commander of Gibraltar Airfield/RAF Gibraltar (2000-2003), where he was responsible for all aspects of the airfield operations, with significant security related challenges especially after 9/11. He has also worked in several NATO and national appointments and has nearly 3000 hours fast jet flying experience.

David holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics (University of Hull), and is a graduate of the Royal Air Force Staff College and the European Security and Defence College.

David is a British national and has working knowledge of French and Danish. He is the Chairman of the Naval Eight/208 Squadron Association and Honorary Treasurer of the Belgian Branch of a UK-based veterans’ charity. He enjoys running, pilates, skiing and spending time with his young sons.
